Hey there! Let me introduce you to one of my friends who has figured out how to move herself and her family out of chaos into calm, and from surviving to thriving.
Her name is Dawnese Openshaw, she is a wife, mother of three (plus the doodle) and a family relationship coach. As founder of The Grounded Parent, she supports parents of teens and tweens in navigating emotional landmines. She helps parents move from frustration and discouragement to having gratifying and fulfilling relationships.
Dawnese walks the walk. Her three children have been her greatest teachers as she supports them with their mental health challenges and learning differences. Between the three, they share 12 different diagnoses. She will tell you that this wasn’t the family life she had planned and yet it’s just as it should be...a gift...an opportunity to stretch, shift, and expand.
She walked away from her retail/restaurant business to focus on being a more supportive Mom, at the time she and her husband, Scott, were also foster parents and had just adopted their daughter. It was a big change for this mompreneur to transition from running a thriving business to learning how to be a full-time mom.
One child in particular needed a lot of support around eliminating the hour long emotional fits (sometimes multiple times a day) that were simply exhausting to manage.
For years, Dawnese focused on trying to change the behaviors of the child and life at home was an absolute mess. After a lot of trial and error, and quite frankly, desperation, she realized that what she was doing wasn’t working. She needed answers.
So, she spent years researching, reading books, talking to therapists, coaches, teachers, psychologists, psychiatrist, and anyone else so she could learn anything that would help.
This research has extended itself and now has become a FREE three-day online interview series, where she interviews experts, authors, coaches, psychologists, and parents with amazing tips, tools, and stories of resilience to give you HOPE.
